The Poetry Archive

Twitter has introduced me to some wonderful web sites that I may not have found otherwise. The Poetry Archive is the perfect example. Someone I am following through my Literary Lunch Twitter feed, posted a link to Spike Milligan reading one of his poems on the site.

The Poetry Archive features poets reading from their own poems. The oldest recording they have is of Robert Browning in 1889. It's hard to hear, but it is amazing to hear his voice. I also have listened to Langston Hughes reading his poem, I, too and Allen Ginsberg reading America . As I write this, I am listening to Seamus Heaney.

There are quite a few poets on this site, there is also a Children's Archive that features such poets as Roald Dahl and John Mole.

I have been listening on this site for an hour so far and I am sure I will eventually spend many hours on this web site.
